MASJID ATAU MOSQUE?

Mosque is the English name for a place of Muslim worship. The Arabic term for a place of Muslim worship is masjid, which literally means "place of prostration" (in prayer).

Some Muslims prefer to use the Arabic term, and discourage use of the word "mosque." This is based on a mistaken belief that the English word is derived from the word "mosquito" and is a derogatory term. To me, there is nothing wrong with the usage of the word mosque to refer a place of worship for the muslims simply because mosque does not mean mosquito in english.
